Champakulam Chundan, one of the most famous "Chundan Vallam" (Snake Boats), holds immense cultural and historical significance in Kerala. Originally used as naval boats for the Chempakasserry rulers, these magnificent vessels are now celebrated for their role in traditional boat races. The Champakulam Chundan is not just a boat; it’s a symbol of unity, requiring a team of over 100 participants to row it during races. This particular snake boat is an engineering marvel. It is 130 feet long, 69 inches wide, and 22 inches deep. Its rear towers 11 feet, while its long, tapering front mimics the raised hood of a snake, making it a sight to behold.
